Scope of work on the project: "turnkey" Steam-Powered Blast-Furnace Blast Compressor Installation of the Disposal Combined Heat and Power Plant (hereinafter referred to as disposal CHPP) (development of design and working documentation, complex equipment supply, construction and pre-commissioning, warranty testing and commissioning).

The Disposal Combined Heat and Power Plant (disposal CHPP) is a structural subdivision of Novolipetsk Steel Mill and is intended for disposal (burning in power-plant boiler) of blast furnace gas, which is a by-product of metallurgical production, and using it to generate electricity and provide consumers with heat in hot water, as well as steam for production needs.

In connection with the planned increase in productivity of blast furnace No. 6, the existing capacity for issuing cold blast to blast furnace No. 6 will not be enough. According to the task for the development of project and working documentation for the site: Novolipetsk Steel Mill PJSC. Disposal CHPP. The Reconstruction of the disposal CHPP with a Turbo-Blower Plant, to increase the existing capacity for issuing a cold blast by the construction of the 4th power unit to be installed in the main building of the disposal CHPP in the reserve cell.

Steam-Powered Blast-Furnace Blast Compressor Installation is installed in the main building of the disposal CHPP. The following main equipment is included in the composition of Steam-Powered Blast-Furnace Blast Compressor Installation of the disposal CHPP: the E-220-9.8-540GD steam power boiler manufactured by Krasny Kotelshchik Taganrog Boiler-Making Works OJSC and the STC-SX turbo compressor (450-16) with a capacity of 9,000 m3/min from Siemens. A steam turbine is used as a drive for the turbo compressor, the steam supply of which takes place by means of a steam power boiler.


In recent years, the Novolipetsk Steel Mill Group has implemented and is implementing a number of large investment projects aimed at improving the energy efficiency of production and increasing the share of power generation with the use of secondary resources. In particular, in Lipetsk, a new CHPP with an installed capacity of 150 MW (3 power units of 50 MW each) was built, which was put into operation in November 2011. Installation of a steam-powered blast-furnace blast compressor installation is provided as the power unit No. 4 of this disposal CHPP. This object can be attributed to the "green" energy, because in the process of steam generating the boiler unit mainly uses secondary energy resource, blast furnace gas, while natural gas is burned in a minimum amount. Therefore, together with an increase in the energy efficiency of production and a reduction in the cost of Novolipetsk Steel Mill PJSC for the purchase of electricity, this project will also reduce the harmful impact of production on the environment.
